{"id":2073,"date":"2020-05-15T03:03:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-15T03:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chem.sci-ui.id\/?p=2073"},"modified":"2025-06-04T03:08:28","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T03:08:28","slug":"guru-besar-departemen-kimia-fmipa-ui-jelaskan-peran-bioteknologi-melawan-pandemi-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chem.sci-ui.id\/id\/guru-besar-departemen-kimia-fmipa-ui-jelaskan-peran-bioteknologi-melawan-pandemi-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Guru Besar Departemen Kimia FMIPA UI Jelaskan Peran Bioteknologi Melawan Pandemi Covid \u2013 19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dalam Webinar Series 1 yang diselenggarakan oleh Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam UI bekerjasama dengan K \u2013 Vision pada hari Kamis (14\/5\/2020) melalui aplikasi&nbsp;<em>video conference<\/em>&nbsp;Zoom, Prof. Usman Sumo Friend Tambunan, Guru Besar Departemen Kimia FMIPA UI menjelaskan tentang bagaimana peran bioteknologi melawan pandemik Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diawal pemaparannya pada kegiatan daring bertema&nbsp;<em>The Value of Science and The Role of Experts in Crisis Situations<\/em>&nbsp;itu, beliau menjelaskan bahwa Covid \u2013 19 merupakan jenis virus SARS \u2013 CoV \u2013 2 dan terbagi menjadi tiga tipe berdasarkan mutasi genetik, yaitu tipe A yang memiliki kemiripan dengan virus yang berasal dari Wuhan, tipe B dan tipe C yang mengalami mutasi dan mengubah karakteristik virus secara fenotipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kemudian, peranan cabang ilmu pemanfaatan makhluk hidup tersebut dalam pandemi Covid \u2013 19, salah satu nya adalah mampu menganalisa atau mendeteksi spesimen dari seseorang yang diduga terpapar Covid-19 melalui PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) yaitu metode yang digunakan dalam Swab Test untuk mendiagnosa apakah seseorang terpapar virus corona atau tidak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lebih jauh lagi, Ia memaparkan bahwa selain mampu mendeteksi apakah suatu spesimen terpapar Covid \u2013 19 atau tidak, bioteknologi juga dapat digunakan untuk menemukan obat atau vaksin yang cocok untuk mencegah penularan Covid \u2013 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Usman, bersama dengan timnya di Departemen Kimia FMIPA UI, kini sedang berupaya meneliti vaksin berbasis subunit atau&nbsp;<em>epitope<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ia menilai, vaksin jenis ini dapat digunakan secara universal tanpa memandang tipe virus Covid \u2013 19.<br>Beliau berharap, berbagai pihak dapat saling berkolaborasi untuk mengembangkan lebih jauh lagi penelitian yang saat ini sedang dilakukan agar obat atau vaksin untuk mengatasi Covid \u2013 19 bisa segera ditemukan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDari pembicaraan kami ini, saudara \u2013 saudara sekalian kami harapkan untuk boleh<em>&nbsp;sharing<\/em>&nbsp;pengetahuan untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut dari penelitian kami, karena penelitian ini tidak bisa&nbsp;<em>mono approve<\/em>.
